Everyone can benefit from safe routes to walk, bike and move in the community. Built environment and safety play a role in the health of all people. Physical activity, safe routes, and built infrastructure is important for your health and the health of our community.
A walk audit brings together community members to walk a route and note what makes the area comfortable or safe and identifies areas that need improvement. A checklist is used to rate a variety of factors such as ease of crossing the street, ability to follow safety rules, and behavior of car and vehicle traffic.
There are actions you can take as community members to make sure our community is the healthiest and safest it can be. If you are interested in participating in the walk audit, complete the online registration form provided here. Feel free to be part of this community initiative!
